A ficlet starring [info]breaking_ties excellent DMLE cast, and their future children. And a day at the cinema. SUSPEND DISBELIEF. IT IS UNREALISTIC AND OUT OF CHARACTER. BUT SHHH.

The idea to go to the cinema had been Mackenzie MacDonald's. She was most acquainted with Muggle things and insisted that, with things quite peaceful for the most part, ("Sirius Black is still on the loose, Hitwitch MacDonald") a few of their more seasoned (Read: Overworked) employees take a quick trip to the cinema.

They took up an entire section of seats, somewhere close to the front, because Joey's missing eye made sitting farther back seem impractical. Rufus sat at the far end of the row ("If something happens in the office I have to be able to leave quickly."), beside him was John Savage, at an ancient nine years old. Beside him was his mother, and beside her was Susan Bones. At the middle of the row, was Kingsley. Joey was to his left, and beside her was Neville Longbottom, who had been invited along because the DMLE loved him and his Gran.

It didn't take long after the film started that people began to get a little upset. Well, initially, John and Mary had made jokes about Mufasa, the heroes father, looking suspiciously like Rufus (he quipped back that Scar was more accurate, and Mufasa sounded more like Kingsley, anyway). Until Mufasa was trampled by wildebeests...

Susan, at fourteen, was too cool to cry over movies, so she bit her lip trying not to sob. Neville was pale and not looking at the screen any longer, and John had buried his face into a visibly uncomfortable Rufus's shoulder.

Over the next hour, even the oldest and most seasoned DMLE members were fully enthralled. Well, except Rufus, who kept checking his journal to make sure nothing had happened at the office. But even he seemed invested in Simba's fate.

Once the movie ended, everyone exited the cinema in relative silence. John pouted, insisting to Susan he hadn't been crying, but Rufus struck down his lie the moment he heard it, pointing to the damp spot on his shoulder as evidence of John's womanly emotions.

"That was fun, we should do that again," Mary chirped.

"Absolutely not."

"Yeah that was way too sad."

"I thought it was fun!" Mary said, looking hurt.

"But his dad DIED, mum. That's horrible. And he looked like Mister Scrimgeour. That made it sadder. Do you want Mister Scrimgeour to get trampled?"

"Sometimes."
